Connecting American Chestnut Enthusiasts in the Great Lakes State
- If you’re curious about the plight of the American Chestnut we welcome all levels of involvement. We’re currently a small group individuals, working on the grassroots level.
- Our primary focus is preservation of two of the largest American Chestnut specimens in the State at the Dougherty Mission House. Located on the Old Mission Peninsula near Traverse City, a group of volunteers supports pollination, nut gathering and planting, seedling distribution, educational days for school groups, monitoring and maintenance of the grounds.
- We are also trying to connect with people interested in a novel breeding program with 100% American Chestnut genetics gathered from Long Surviving American Chestnut trees (LSAs).
- This site is in development. Please explore the links or email for more information. Feedback is welcome.
